In 1992 a break came for Leighton when he was asked to stand in for a member of the American Drifters, this not only was a fantastic experience but also opened his eyes to the love that people around the UK still held for the great sounds of groups such as The Drifters and he began to formulate his own ideas for a tribute to the sound of Black America, incorporating Motown and Soul and a little bit of everything in between.

His tribute ‘ Motown Legacy’ is a nod to those great performers such as Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Sam and Dave, Jackie Wilson and so many more who gave us the truly great classics of pop and soul music.

Derailed @ Albert's Corner, Crewe View map - Albert's Corner Permanent link

Derailed

DERAILED are a four-piece rock covers band based in Crewe.

VOCALIST Suzi Venables-Wood ‘Suzi Blue’ brings a new twist to class rock covers. With her powerful and agile vocals, she brings a vocal quality to the band. She takes to stage with enthusiasm and a diverse set list that is sure to have you singing along. Taking inspiration from Muse, Skunk Anansie and No Doubt, she brings a vibrant and fresh sound to the stage.

LEAD GUITARIST Dave Dayman has been playing guitar since the age of nine. His first guitar was a beaten up acoustic and in the beginning he had dreams of playing in a world-dominating heavy metal band (very uncool at the time as it was 1982 and electronic music was the 'in thing'). From that point on he was hooked on anything to do with music, especially the guitar and has always had a passion for rock based music. His taste has grown over the years (age and wisdom do that to you apparently) and his influences include a wide range of artists from Queen and Muse to Band of Skulls and Biffy Clyro, Simple Minds to Early Maiden, Pink Floyd to Free and plenty in between. Dave has played with various bands over the years and loves how music makes him feel... His passion for music is somewhat contagious.

BASSIST Ian 'Hitchy' Hitchinson is a seasoned bass guitarist, formerly of long running local band Bedlam, is now plucking the low strings in this unique female fronted rock band. Originally from Sandbach, he's always been into rock music, and was a biker back in the day. Musically his influences range from The Beatles, Cage the Elephant, Chilli peppers to The Cheeky Girls. Only joking...

DRUMMER Carl Hitchen played in previous bands with two members of Derailed before, local band Bedlam with Suzi and Ian and the Typhoons with Ian. He's played in loads of different bands and different styles of music over the last 15 years, stood in for other bands and helped out when the drummer wasn't available. He says that he 'wings it' most of the time as he's not allowed a kit setup at home as he's quite heavy-handed so his practice drumkit is his steering wheel on the way to work! His favourite style of music is metal but he'll play absolutely anything as long as it sounds good!

Diamonds And Ducks @ The Railway, Nantwich View map - The Railway Permanent link

Step Mutha Humbucker

In light of the changes in personnel within camp Humbucker and the arrival of front man Mr David Shaw, the guys have also dragged their policies into the modern day by becoming an equal opportunity employer!

To mark such an occasion, Mutha Humbucker were pleased to announce the arrival of the long awaited Step Mutha Humbucker featuring the very talented Ms. Sammy G on vocals - and now rebranded as Diamonds And Ducks!

SMH first appeared together some years ago now as a one off alternative show and at the Nantwich Jazz & Blues festival which on the night seemed to gel and work quite nicely.
In 2018 the guys approached Sammy to get this act off the ground again - this has affected man banter in the van but not affected the show!!!

The dials continue to be cranked to 11 but with a brand new set to entertain the masses, expect tracks from Queen & Tina Turner to Pat Benatar & Pink.

She has worked the North West and North Wales entertainment circuit for over 12 years getting fantastic responses from both young and old. Leandra’s cheeky sense of humour and stage presence will have the audience eating out her hand....!

Electro 80's @ Shavington Club, Shavington View map - Shavington Club Permanent link

Electro 80's

The Eighties were a time of radical changes in both music and fashion.

In the aftermath of the punk revolution, daring New Romantics embraced developing sounds and technologies to transform the music industry forever.

Gary Numan, The Human League, Kraftwerk & Depeche Mode all helped to create a totally new genre of music; Electronica or Synth-pop, a futuristic new sound that almost seemed like science fiction at the time.

Electro 80's pay tribute to this era, and have lovingly recreated songs by the afore mentioned pioneers (and many more), to create a live entertainment show that is sure to transport everyone from this generation, back to the days of underground club scenes and even school discos.

Unforgettable classics like Fade to Grey and Just Can't Get Enough are performed alongside lesser-known tracks, which will jog your memory in a nostalgic show that is both visually and acoustically stunning.

Derailed @ The Cosey Club, Haslington View map - The Cosey Club Permanent link

Caravan @ Eleven, Sandyford View map - Eleven Permanent link

Caravan

Caravan are considered by many to be the undisputed, unsung heroes of the British Prog movement. Often quoted as being one of the most formidable acts to emerge from the '60s progressive rock scene, over the years they have managed to achieve cult status and have maintained a passionate and diehard following.

Originally formed in Canterbury in 1968, Caravan were at the heart of the 1970s burgeoning Canterbury rock movement and central to the Canterbury sound. They produced their own brand of "superior pop music, full of taste, craftsmanship and hard work" (NME) and packed venues worldwide. The current Caravan line-up includes Pye Hastings (1968 founding member: guitar, lead vocals), Geoffrey Richardson (joined 1972: viola, guitar, flute, vocals), Jan Schelhaas (keyboards), Jim Leverton (bass, vocals) and Mark Walker (drums, percussion).

Now touring to celebrate their 50th anniversary and performing songs from across their extensive catalogue, this is a unique opporunity to see such a legendary band up close.

+ Long Strung Creatures, a rock band rooted very much in the classic rock and blues music of the seventies. Having met at school in the late sixties, they came together as a band only a few years ago. They write all their own music, befitting the genre of music that they have enjoyed for many years. In case you are wondering, the band name is taken from a Wilfred Owen poem, The Show.
